Obesity is linked to a wide range of health problems, including an increased risk of coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, type 2 diabetes, raised blood cholesterol levels, respiratory problems (including sleep apnoea and asthma), some types of cancer (including cancer of the colon, breast and endometrium), joint disorders (including osteoarthritis), menstrual disturbance, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), infertility in women, erectile dysfunction in men, gallstones, gastro-oesophageal reflux, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease1.

By visiting us today you are showing your support for the creation of fresh and intelligent thinking around the obesity crisis. You are helping us to shine a spotlight on the problem. You are helping us shout louder for better solutions. Telling people to eat less and move more is not working - a more comprehensive approach is needed.

Through our personal experience and by dedicating a significant part of our working lives to helping others to tackle their own obesity problem. We have seen how it can destroy lives and have been frustrated by the slow pace of change. Some of that work has been done through LighterLife.

LighterLife is the only weight management company that uses a combination of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and TA (Transactional Analysis) to help clients understand more about themselves and their relationship with food.

For the past 25 years, as an organisation, we have provided weight management solutions that focus on the psychological reasons that underpin people’s overeating. We have significant evidence that a therapeutic approach can provide most with a much better opportunity to change and achieve a healthier, more fulfilled life.

What we aim to help people with is not really about their weight or size. It’s about the human psychological condition. Achieving a healthy weight is typically the trigger for people to change what doesn’t fulfil them, and in most cases, a positive outcome of undertaking that change.

We are also behind the thought-provoking obesity magazine, Broccoli & Brains, to help you gain better awareness about the issues surrounding obesity. Why? So that together fresh, life changing solutions can be implemented.

We have been passionately campaigning for fresh and intelligent thinking to resolve the obesity crisis for over 25 years. We believe entire generations of obese people have effectively been written off by policy makers and those who could make a significant difference.
